United Way

United Way of East TN Highlands is a central non-profit powerhouse that serves as a bridge between community resources and those in need. In September 2024, they moved to their current, highly accessible headquarters on West Walnut Street to be closer to downtown and the ETSU campus. The organization focuses on "breaking the cycle of poverty" across Washington, Carter, Johnson, and southern Sullivan counties by vetting, funding, and supporting over 40 local nonprofit programs.
