Terms & Conditions

By registering for, attending, or participating in any CDJC event or online platforms (including CDJC 501(c)(3)-affiliated events), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not register or participate.

1) Communications Consent (Email + SMS)

By providing your email address and/or phone number (online, in-person, by QR code, or otherwise), you consent to receive event-related and marketing communications from CDJC about current and future programs, activities, and events. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

  • Opt out (SMS): Reply STOP to unsubscribe from texts. Reply HELP for help.

  • Opt out (Email): Use the unsubscribe link in any email.

2) Photo/Video/Audio Release

You grant CDJC and its partners permission to photograph, film, and record you at events, and to use your image/likeness/voice in any media (including social, web, email, print, and press) for marketing, storytelling, documentation, and promotion—without compensation. This permission is worldwide, royalty-free, and perpetual, unless limited by law.

3) Participant Content + Comments

If you post, submit, tag, message, or otherwise provide content connected to an event (photos, videos, reviews, captions, comments, testimonials, etc.), you grant CDJC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, edit, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display that content for CDJC-related purposes, with or without attribution where practical.

4) Information Sharing

You understand and agree that CDJC may share participant contact information (including name, email, and phone number) as follows:

  • With businesses participating in the Main Street Program (including event partners) for coordination and marketing related to downtown activities and future events; and/or

  • With an event’s primary sponsor(s) for sponsor recognition, reporting, and marketing related to that event and future sponsor-supported activities.

CDJC does not promise confidentiality for information you voluntarily provide for event participation.

5) Social Media and Public Conduct

CDJC events are community-facing and may involve public venues and public online discussion. You agree that you will not, in connection with a CDJC event:

  • Harass, threaten, defame, dox, discriminate against, or encourage violence toward any person or group.

  • Post or share content that is unlawful, obscene, or knowingly false in a way that harms CDJC, event partners, volunteers, sponsors, or downtown businesses.

  • Disrupt event operations, interfere with staff/volunteers, or create unsafe conditions.

  • Represent yourself as speaking on behalf of CDJC unless you have written authorization.

CDJC may remove content from its channels (where it controls the platform) and may revoke participation privileges for violations.

6) Brand, Trademarks, and Name Use

“Connect Downtown Johnson City,” “CDJC,” and associated logos, marks, designs, event names, and brand elements (“CDJC Brand”) may not be used without express written permission from CDJC. The City of Johnson City owns the trademark for the Downtown Johnson City associated logos, marks, designs, and other brand elements.

You may not:

  • Use CDJC Brand on flyers, ads, merchandise, websites, email marketing, social posts, or press materials without written approval.

  • Create or sell merchandise using CDJC Brand without written approval.

  • Imply CDJC or the City of Johnson City endorses you, your business, your product, or your event unless you have written authorization.

CDJC may request removal of unauthorized uses and may pursue any remedies available under law.

7) Event Operations

Events may be photographed/recorded in public-facing spaces. Schedules, venues, and programming may change, be postponed, or be canceled.

8) Eligibility and Minors

If you are under 18, you may participate only with a parent/guardian’s permission. A parent/guardian attending with a minor grants the releases above on the minor’s behalf.

9) Conduct and Removal

CDJC expects respectful behavior. CDJC may deny entry or remove anyone for disruptive, unsafe, unlawful, or harassing behavior. CDJC may also disqualify participants from contests, promotions, or giveaways if participant conduct undermines event integrity or safety.

10) Assumption of Risk + Liability Limitation

You assume ordinary risks of attending public events. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CDJC is not liable for injuries, losses, or damages arising from participation, except where caused by CDJC’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.

11) Privacy and Data Use

Information collected may be used for administration of the event, communications, and marketing of future CDJC events and activities, and may be shared as described in Section 4.
