The River Ministry
The River Ministry for Women is a faith-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in downtown Johnson City. Operating under the umbrella of First Presbyterian Church, it serves as a compassionate day center for women and children who are experiencing poverty, homelessness, or a lack of stable support networks. Since 2004, The River has focused on the principle of "Helping Women Help Themselves," providing a dignified environment where guests can meet their basic needs while working toward long-term self-sufficiency.
