About Connect Downtown Johnson City
Connect Downtown Johnson City serves as the 501(c)(3) Advisory Board for the Main Street Program of downtown Johnson City, operated and staffed by the City of Johnson City. The Main Street Program hosts events like Fridays After 5, Main Street Days, Sip, Shop & Strolls, Oktoberfest, Acoustic Autumn, Candy Land Christmas, and more. The organization also manages façade grants, placemaking projects, and downtown business support, development, and recruitment.
Our Mission: To foster a thriving downtown ecosystem that is desirable for residents, businesses, and visitors by forging partnerships and facilitating community connections.
Who should apply
We’re seeking a diverse mix of skills and perspectives. Ideal candidates may include:

Downtown business or property owners

Residents of the district or nearby neighborhoods

Professionals in marketing, finance, legal, design, planning, or hospitality
-
Nonprofit leaders, educators, and community advocates
You do not have to own a business to be considered.
Eligibility & commitment

Terms: 1, 2, or 3 years (beginning October 2025)

Meetings: Regular board meetings + occasional committee meetings
-
Committees: Economic Support, Placemaking, Special Events, Buildings

Attendance: Consistent participation is expected

Conflict of interest: Disclose relevant affiliations during application
What you’ll do

Attend board meetings and actively participate in at least one committee
-
Support major initiatives and events
-
Advocate for downtown businesses, residents, and visitors

Help steward partnerships, sponsorships, and strategic projects
